Platform9, the leader in SaaS-managed hybrid cloud, today announced the industry’s first fully managed Kubernetes service on VMware vSphere with Platform9 Managed Kubernetes.

The new managed service, announced Monday, is available now worldwide through Platform9 partners, and Platform9 claims it’s the industry’s only fully managed Kubernetes service that works on existing infrastructure. It also delivers visibility and management across Kubernetes environments that are on-premises, in the public cloud, or at the edge.

Today, the team at Platform9, a company known for its SaaS-managed hybrid cloud, introduced a fully managed, enterprise-grade Kubernetes service that works on VMware with full SLA guarantee.

Offerings to use Kubernetes on VMware however tend to be a bit harder to find, since it wasn’t actually designed to run containerised workloads. The only prominent representative is – unsurprisingly – VMware Cloud PKS, which is maintained by Pivotal (hence the use of PKS, Pivotal Container Service). Platform9’s new service wants to change that.
