Genesis

Platform9’s genesis goes back to our founding team’s experience as early engineers at VMware, our alma mater that disrupted computing infrastructure with some fantastic technology.

Over the years, we came to the realization that managing virtualization infrastructure was hard, and time consuming. Administrators have to not only setup and configure multiple instances of complex management software; they also have to upgrade each of these every time they want critical fixes or new features. In addition, the burden of monitoring their infrastructure falls squarely on the Administrator.

There’s Got to Be a Better Way!

So, we challenged ourselves to rethink the approach, with no constraints other than optimizing for the customer experience.

The result: Platform9, a cloud service that is built to manage enterprise computing infrastructure.

Co-founder and CTO at Platform9

Roopak envisioned the technology powering Platform9, and now leads our Engineering wizards in the quest to realize this vision. Roopak likes to work with customers in designing solutions and solving technical challenges. He also leads incubation projects within the organization and loves talking about everything from latest javascript frameworks to blockchain technologies.

Before co-founding Platform9, Roopak was a technical lead at VMware, where he helped architect and ship major vSphere products: Update Manager and vCloud Director. Before VMware, Roopak was an early engineer at an early stage Mobile computing startup.

Outside of work, Roopak is a fan of audiobooks, likes cooking, following sports, and keeping up with his kids on the soccer field.
