Host Onboarding Command "pf9ctl cluster prep-node" fails on task "Enable and start NTP"

Problem

The pf9ctl cluster prep-node commands fail to prepare the node so that it can be added to the platform9 managed Kubernetes cluster.

Errors like the ones below are visible in the pf9ctl logs, /root/pf9/log/pf9ctl.log.

TASK [ntp : Enable and start NTP] **********************************************fatal: [localhost]: FAILED! => {"changed": false, "msg": "Service is in unknown state", "status": {}}

Environment

• Platform9 Managed Kubernetes - v4.0 and Higher

Cause

Unable to start NTP service on the node.

Resolution

Confirm the NTP service is enabled and is in running state on the node. Check system logs for further troubleshooting the NTP service.
