Platform9, the cloud startup that emerged form stealth mode last August, unveiled its “Managed OpenStack” platform this week, a software-as-a-service offering aimed at quickly turning existing cloud infrastructure like servers into private clouds.

A couple of months ago I introduced you to this new company founded by 4 former VMware employees called Platform9.

Platform9, a startup co-founded by former VMware engineers, came out of stealth mode in August with a cloud-based management platform that lets companies run their private clouds with the automation and efficiency of public clouds.

The cloud is not a panacea, despite what some might suggest. So when a deployment doesn’t go as planned, the choices aren’t always easy. It’s rarely as simple as moving to the next best offer.

The company has been founded by former VMware engineers to provide SaaS-based management of on-premises private clouds. Its starting point is the lack of tools currently available to manage those private clouds.
