Platform9 Technology Ecosystem Expands: Tintri Partnership Featured at KubeCon EU, Storware Adds Native Private Cloud Director Backup Support

The Platform9 technology ecosystem continues to grow as partners build validated integrations with Private Cloud Director. Two recent developments—a joint infrastructure stack with Tintri by DDN and native backup support from Storware—were featured in industry press this week.

Tintri by DDN Showcases Joint Platform9 Stack at KubeCon EU 2026

At KubeCon + CloudNativeCon EU 2026, Tintri by DataDirect Networks presented an integrated infrastructure stack developed in partnership with Platform9. In an interview with SiliconANGLE’s theCUBE, Tintri SVP Phil Trickovic described the partnership as bringing a hyperconverged infrastructure stack to market with both Intel and AMD chipsets—”bolted, validated, certified and supported by both companies, jointly.”

The joint stack combines Tintri’s intelligent data placement and adaptive auto-tiering capabilities with Private Cloud Director’s enterprise virtualization and container management platform. For organizations evaluating VMware alternatives, the integration provides a validated infrastructure path that runs on existing x86 hardware with storage tiering that automatically adapts to workload demands—without requiring manual intervention or separate storage management tooling.

The partnership reflects 18 months of joint engineering work between the two companies, with the integrated stack now available as a certified and supported solution.

Storware Backup and Recovery 7.5 Adds Native Private Cloud Director Support

Separately, Storware announced the release of Backup and Recovery v7.5 with native backup and recovery support for workloads running on Private Cloud Director. The integration enables organizations using Platform9 to protect and manage their workloads directly through Storware without requiring additional tooling or separate platform licensing.

Version 7.5 also expands Storware’s cross-platform migration capabilities, adding Citrix Hypervisor and XCP-ng as source environments for migration to OpenStack—reflecting what Storware CEO Paweł Mączka described as growing demand for OpenStack as an enterprise VMware alternative following Broadcom’s acquisition.

For Private Cloud Director customers, the Storware integration adds another validated data protection option alongside existing integrations with Veeam, Commvault, Cohesity, Rubrik, and Veritas. The full list of supported backup and storage platforms is available on the Platform9 Technology Ecosystem page.

Why the Ecosystem Matters

Enterprise VMware migrations don’t happen in isolation. Organizations evaluating alternatives need confidence that their existing storage, backup, monitoring, and networking investments will continue to work on the new platform. Every validated integration reduces one more variable in the migration planning process.Platform9 Private Cloud Director currently integrates with more than 50 technology platforms across storage, backup, disaster recovery, observability, and security.
