Platform9, which many people have taken note of as a virtualization-focused startup, is making news this week after it announced the availability of Platform9 Managed OpenStack, a SaaS solution that leverages an organization’s existing servers into an AWS-like agile, self-service private cloud.

Platform9 suggests OpenStack act as SUPERFREAK for vSphere control freak

A couple of months ago I introduced you to this new company founded by 4 former VMware employees called Platform9.

Platform9, a startup co-founded by former VMware engineers, came out of stealth mode in August with a cloud-based management platform that lets companies run their private clouds with the automation and efficiency of public clouds.

The cloud is not a panacea, despite what some might suggest. So when a deployment doesn’t go as planned, the choices aren’t always easy. It’s rarely as simple as moving to the next best offer.

The company has been founded by former VMware engineers to provide SaaS-based management of on-premises private clouds. Its starting point is the lack of tools currently available to manage those private clouds.
