Open Source Community Builder/Content Marketer

Open-source technologies such as Kubernetes are defining the future for cloud computing. Serverless computing is the next big trend in cloud, and Platform9 launched Fission, one of the hottest open source serverless products in the market this last January, along with other investments in open source hybrid & microservices. The team is passionate about Kubernetes, Fission & OpenStack and is seeking a rising star to invigorate the open source evangelist community around these technologies via high-value content and outreach.

At their core, this person loves developers and empathizes with their hopes and dreams. They must be a talented writer, great listener and skillful wrangler of others. They must possess organizational skills (read: able and happy to report progress based on measureable outcomes), be dependable and calm under pressure with a passion for getting others as excited about our technology as we are.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute large-scale community-building: grow attendees across in-person events, chat & social channels, contributors to Github and pull requests
  • Create: drive open source content machinery by turning content pieces into broader campaigns by translating webinars into blogs and infographics, creating otherwise beautiful content & make sure it’s all click-friendly
  • Broadcast: own our social media presence and editorial calendar
  • Manage: liaise with third-party writers & videographers as needed and inspire co-workers to help get social, too
  • Report back on products: get product-related feedback from the community and communicate it to the team
  • Advocate inside: influence Platform9 developers to participate in community-building/evangelism activities
  • Seek outside influencers: identify and engage advocates in ways that support growth of our community
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on digital content and align campaigns that cross over into other channels, particularly customer service

Requirements

  • Proven ability (2-3 years) to build and maintain communities around online platforms and software products
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, and a strong desire to engage with the open source community on an ongoing basis
  • Desire to engage with a wide range of users and share your contagious enthusiasm about Platform9’s role in the future of hybrid cloud, container orchestration and serverless
  • Almost obsessive commitment to consistent interaction and follow-up with users; ability to create an atmosphere that makes our users know they’re special
  • Personality traits: team player with a positive energy and attitude, driven, charismatic, friendly, high-energy, positive
  • Social media marketing experience for a brand or product
  • Strong creative and marketing writing/speaking talents
  • Ability to work cross-platform with multimedia assets

  • Proven history of leadership and inspiration with executional excellence
  • Ability to work effectively cross-functionally with track record of driving results
  • Analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills coupled with interpersonal and analytical abilities
  • BA/BS degree in engineering/quantitative and/or business field.
  • A portfolio of exceptional digital work, either produced or managed, ideally for a software product/brand
  • Experience with non-English language
