Platform9 Metal³ Early Access Release
The v5.5 release of Platform9 includes the early access release of our Metal³ offering. This initial v1 release of Metal³ for Platform9 Managed Bare Metal (PMB), provides Platform9 with an integrated full featured bare metal management component, that can bootstrap your physical servers, install your operating system of choice, and bring up the physical servers to get them ready for next order configuration. Platform9 leverages the open source Metal³ project to achieve these capabilities which provides a Kubernetes Native API for managing bare metal hosts from a provisioning stack that is also running on Kubernetes. From provisioning a single bare metal host to deploying 1000s of bare metal hosts on the edge, Platform9 provides managed bare metal that can scale to your needs. In addition, by delivering bare metal with the Platform9 SaaS Management Plane, users can easily experience a true end-to-end solution that goes from bare metal to a Kubernetes cluster deployment managed by Platform9.
Whats New
Dedicated Application Switcher
Users can access Metal³ directly from the Platform9 cluster management and selecting the app switcher in the upper left and choosing Metal³ from the list.
Enabling Metal³ from the UI
Easily setup a new cluster with Metal³ or enable on existing cluster from the Getting Started Page
Configure all necessary Metal³ settings with a simple wizard.
Provision and Deprovision Bare Metal³ Hosts
Quickly and easily deploy a single bare metal host or batches of bare metal hosts via CLI.
Metal³ Dashboard
Easily view Metal³ health and important stats on provisioned and ready bare metal hosts.
Known Issues & Limitations
We have a few more tweaks and final touches to make before we launch Metal³ as a production ready, SLA backed service from Platform9. Instead of holding it back whilst we complete the final pieces of work, we decided to release an Early Access preview so that you can kick-start your your Kubevirt or Cloud Native journey by laying the necessary bare metal foundation with Metal³. Launch Metal³ and login using your Platform9 account to try it out!
