Learn why Private Cloud Director is the best VMware alternative

Press Release

Platform9 Brings 0–60 Virtualization Hands-On Lab to EMEA Market

Platform9 is officially hosting our first EMEA-time-zone session of our 0–60 Virtualization Hands-On Lab, expanding the program to better support VMware administrators evaluating alternatives across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

The live, instructor-led lab will run on March 18, 2026 at 2:00 PM GMT and is designed to give teams hands-on experience with Private Cloud Director in a guided environment. Attendees will work through the operational building blocks VMware admins care about most, including cluster concepts, VM networking and deployment, multi-tenancy, and the day-to-day motions that determine whether a platform is truly production-ready.

“The conversation around VMware alternatives is happening globally, and our EMEA customers and prospects deserve the same hands-on access as everyone else. We’re excited to open this up to a wider audience and give more teams the opportunity to experience Private Cloud Director firsthand.”

— Damian Karlson, Head of Technical Product Marketing, Platform9

During the session, Platform9 experts will be available throughout to answer questions and help participants validate core virtualization expectations, including VM high availability, live migration, dynamic resource rebalancing, and multi-tenant governance patterns. The lab will also include an overview of vJailbreak, Platform9’s free migration tool, and how teams can use it to structure a predictable transition off VMware.

To support teams already in an active VMware exit cycle, Platform9 is also hosting an upcoming migration webinar: “Escaping VMware: Risk-free migrations with vJailbreak” on February 24 at 10:00 AM PST. The session includes a live demo migrating a multi-tier application from VMware to Private Cloud Director, plus practical guidance on avoiding common migration pitfalls and keeping cutovers controlled and repeatable.

Bringing the 0–60 Virtualization Hands-On Lab to the EMEA time zone is an important step in making VMware-alternative evaluation more accessible, more practical, and more community-driven. We’re excited to welcome more VMware admins across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa into a guided, hands-on environment where the focus is simple: prove what matters in real operations, ask the hard questions, and leave with clearer next steps. We look forward to learning alongside the virtualization community and supporting the teams shaping what private cloud looks like next.
