# Ubuntu Instance Console Stuck on "Booting from hard disk"

## Problem

You are not able to access the console of an *Ubuntu* instance through the *Platform9 UI*. The instance powers on successfully and it will also be accessible through *SSH* but while accessing the *console*, the following error is observed.

## Environment

* Platform9 Managed OpenStack - All Versions
* *Nova*
* *Ubuntu*

## Cause

The *Ubuntu* image being used is of the ***disk-kvm*** type that uses a reduced kernel instead of the generic kernel.

## Resolution

1. Download the ***amd64.img*** cloud image instead of the ***amd64-disk-kvm.img*** image from the following link.
